Experience Link’s adventures in a parallel world with our free Nintendo 64 ROM download for The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask!
The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask is perhaps one of Nintendo’s most well-known Zelda games. With its release in 2000 for the Nintendo 64, it marked the sixth installment of The Legend of Zelda series. The game’s story is a sequel to The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, which was released in 1998.
Following the events of Ocarina of Time, Link now ends up in a world parallel to Hyrule. This world’s name is Termina, and it’s in grave danger. In three days, the moon will fall into the world and destroy it. As a result, Link takes it upon himself to save Termina from its grim fate. However, to do so he must employ the use of various masks. This ROM download lets you experience the tale of Termina on the N64 and take on the role of Link to save the world!
The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask Gameplay
In The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask, the player controls Link, the game’s protagonist. First, you must progress the game through clearing dungeons. Finally, after clearing all the dungeons, Link must summon the Four Giants to help him stop the moon from crashing into the planet.
To clear a dungeon, you must battle enemies and solve dungeon puzzles. These dungeon puzzles usually require the use of some items found in the dungeon or some mechanic. The method depends on the theme of the dungeon.
The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask Features
The game returns a few features from The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. However, The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask offers a few new things to experience as well. Download the ROM for free to experience the fun features The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask has to offer!
Take on different shapes using masks.
Although the masks were an optional side-quest in Ocarina of Time, they are a key feature in The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask. There are 24 masks that Link can wear in total, and they each offer different abilities. Using these masks, Link transforms himself into different creatures, and the shape he takes affects your gameplay! As a result, NPCs will react to Link differently, and some masks make the gameplay easier.
A time limit to save the world
The most important aspect Majora’s Mask introduces is the three-day cycle. This means that Link has 72 hours of in-game time to stop the moon from falling into the world. This translates to around 54 minutes of real-time. However, using the Ocarina of Time, Link returns to the first day with all the progress saved. However, some minor items will be lost, and most NPCs will not remember meeting Link. If you fail to play the Song of Time, the moon will fall into the world and you lose all progress. All the items, maps, and other major accomplishments will be erased from your inventory. Termina is stuck in a three-day time limbo, so when this happens the game will return you to the beginning.
The Ocarina returns!
Fans of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time will be happy to learn that the ocarina makes a return in this game! Link must play songs on his ocarina to do certain actions, such as return to the first day, slow down, or warp time.
