The anticipated release of the remakes happened in 2014. Nintendo introduced the 3DS remakes Pokemon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire.
Pokemon – Ruby Version as in most Pokemon games follows the story of a young Pokemon trainer. Firstly, the trainer levels up their Pokemon and battles other trainers on their journey. Secondly, the trainer tries to defeat the ominous evil organization Team Magma. Lastly, the trainer works on becoming the Pokemon Champion. Moreover, the game is completely independent of its counterpart Pokemon Sapphire. However, to complete the Pokedex, the trainer needs to trade between Pokemon – Ruby Version and Pokemon Fire Red/Leaf Green.
Pokemon – Ruby Version Gameplay
Pokemon – Ruby Version is a role-playing video game, which works very similarly to its predecessors. It has two game screens, the upper one on which the player navigates their character, and the lower screen on which the player configures their Pokemon party, items, settings, etc. After obtaining Pokemon, the player levels them up by battling other trainers and Pokemon, as beating them allows them to gain experience points. The player can beat other Pokemon by inflicting damage, which causes the other Pokemon to lose Health Points (HP). During those battles, the player can use a move or an item, switch into another Pokemon, or flee if it is a battle with a wild Pokemon and not a trainer.
Battles with trainers end with one party having all Pokemon at zero HP. At certain levels, certain Pokemon learn new moves and even evolve, while their stats increase with each level. Battles with wild Pokemon end by defeating it, fleeing, or catching it. Pokemon are caught with Pokeballs and the catch rate varies between species. The lower the Pokemon’s HP is, the easier it becomes to catch it. The player can utilize different condition changes such as, but not limited to sleep or paralysis which also make Pokemon easier to catch. Fainted Pokemon and Pokemon with status conditions can be healed at a Pokemon Center or by using an item.
The Hoenn Story
The game starts in a small town in the Hoenn region, called Littleroot town. The player has just moved from the Johto region and as strong Pokemon called Machokes are moving their stuff in, their mom tells the player to go meet Professor Birch. The player, later on, finds Prof. Birch being chased by Poochyenna and then chooses their starter Pokemon between the Grass-type starter Treecko, the Fire-type starter Torchic and the Water-type starter Mudkip. After obtaining the starter Pokemon and defeating their rival in a trainer battle, the player can obtain Pokeballs from Prof. Birch and start their Pokemon journey, as they catch new Pokemon, train them, battle against other trainers and Team Magma, on their way to becoming the brand new Pokemon Champion.
What the game offers:
- Double battles!
- 135 brand new Pokemon!
