Pokémon – Platinum Version is a classic role-playing video game for the Nintendo DS. It was developed by Game Freak and distributed by The Pokémon Company and Nintendo. It’s an improved version of Pokémon Diamond and Pearl, and it’s part of the Pokémon video game series’ fourth generation, released on September 13, 2008, in Japan. Later on, it was released in North America, Australia, and Europe in 2009. Platinum was created to be a more powerful version of Diamond and Pearl.

Pokemon – Platinum Version, like Diamond and Pearl, is based in the fictional Sinnoh territory. Pokemon – Platinum Version ROM has slightly different landscapes than Diamond and Pearl, with snow on the ground in places where it wasn’t in Diamond and Pearl. While Pokémon Platinum follows the same plot as Diamond and Pearl, for the most part, it adds a few new components. The plot revolves around Giratina, whereas Diamond and Pearl focused on Dialga and Palkia, respectively.

Pokemon – Platinum Version Gameplay

Pokémon – Platinum Version is an action-adventure role-playing video game for the NDS. The fundamental mechanics are the same as in Pokémon Diamond and Pearl. The gameplay is in a third-person overhead perspective, as with all Pokémon games for handheld consoles up to that point, and consists of three basic screens: a field map, where the player navigates the main character; a battle screen; and a menu, where the player configures their party, items, or gameplay settings. Firstly, players choose one of three starter Pokémon at the start of the game and can capture more with Poké Balls. In addition, the player can utilize his or her Pokémon to fight other Pokémon.

The screen transitions to a turn-based combat screen when a Pokémon battle begins. You trigger a battle by finding a wild Pokémon or by challenging other Trainers to a battle. The user can use a move, an item, switch the active Pokémon, or flee during a battle. The player’s Pokémon gains experience points if it defeats the rival Pokémon by making it faint. On the other hand, the most significant aspect of Pokémon gameplay, aside from battling, is capturing Pokémon. Although the player cannot capture the Pokémon of other trainers, he or she can utilize Poké Balls on a wild Pokémon during battle. Furthermore, if the player already has the limit of six Pokémon, a successful catch adds the Pokémon to the active party or puts it in the PC. The Pokémon in Platinum are mostly the same as in Diamond and Pearl, with a few additions and omissions.

What the game offers

Rotom, Giratina, the entire Eevee line, and new evolutions for older Pokémon such as Dusknoir and Tangrowth are among the 59 new Pokémon added to the Sinnoh Pokédex. You must have seen all 210 Pokémon in the Sinnoh dex to earn the National Pokédex. Except for the event Pokémon Manaphy, who you can add to the dex by reading the book in the Pokémon Mansion. You can spot all Pokémon in the wild and in trainer battles throughout the game.

Distortion World

The advent of a parallel reality named Distortion World is the biggest gameplay modification. At the Spear Pillar, Cyrus, the commander of Team Galactic, summons Dialga and Palkia. Giratina temporarily emerges from the wormhole due to an apparent rip in the space-time continuum. You must follow Giratina and Cyrus back into the Distortion World. It’s a pretty strange place, like something out of an Escher painting. You can walk on the walls, and when you bounce around, the camera spins. Giratina will eventually appear here.

Battle Frontier

After finishing the basic plot, you unlock the Battle Frontier, which replaces the Battle Park in Diamond/Pearl. The Frontier features five different zones with differing regulations, whereas the D/P park just had basic battling. They are, in order, from top to bottom:

  • Battle Tower: In each round, you choose a team of three Pokémon and combat seven trainers in a row.
  • Battle Factory: You cannot use your Pokémon in the factory; instead, you must choose from a list of random Pokémon. In each round, you battle 7 trainers in a row, and in between battles, you can trade one of your Pokémon for a Pokémon you just fought.
  • Battle Arcade: You must choose an event from the game board before each battle. Reducing a Pokémon team’s levels or HP, or imposing a status ailment, are examples of events.
  • Battle Castle: Battles at the castle earn you points. Each round, you select three of your Pokémon to combat seven trainers. You can use your points to heal or resurrect your Pokémon, boost the level of your opponent’s Pokémon (which gives you more points), rent goods, and more.
  • Battle Hall: Here you pick a single Pokémon and battle it ten times in a row. You select the type of Pokémon you want to fight in each battle. If you have an Electric Pokémon, you might want to fight Water or Flying Pokémon.
